Workshop 'MADE in Querétaro'
New applications for pultrusion fiberglass.

In cooperation with IRVING-IKG industries (manufacturer of industrial grids) and the Industrial Design program at Tecnológico de Monterrey campus Querétaro (Mexico), MADE developed the workshop "New applications for pultrusion fiberglass".

With a methodology implemented by MADE, and coordinated by Jorge Moreno Arózqueta (director of the ID program), 12 students worked intensively during three weeks developing new ideas on products made out of the materials that IRVING manufactures.

The results of the workshop were highly satisfactory for all parties. In one hand, the academic goal was achieved and students learned diverse new methods for the design process, from ideation to prototype construction. In the other hand the company IRVING, went home with a number of designs with great business potential, practically ready for production not only in the urban furniture field but in new market niches. And finally, MADE and Tecnológico de Monterrey campus Querétaro established a collaboration link between industry and academy.

The students worked in teams of 4 people and the course ended with a presentation where they showed their projects to managers from IRVING, directors from Tec. de Monterrey, press and guests. Students presented 6 functional prototypes that they built with IRVING's support: a lounge-seat, an individual stool for public areas, a magazine holder, a grass-bench, a modular bench of 5 pieces and a rocking stool.
